OHUG wins prestigious Best Emerging Business Award

30th Oct 2009

At the glittering black tie event, staged to celebrate the 2009 Stevenson Business Excellence Awards last week, OHUG Power Equipment Ltd won the Best Emerging Business Award.

The Business Excellence Awards, promoted and run by the Enterprise Franklin Development Trust and the Papakura District Council, are judged by an independent panel of 10 Judges and are assessed against set business criteria such as; business planning, marketing strategy, funding, leadership, management & processes and growth & profitability. Judges also conduct interviews and site visits with all Awards finalists.

Franklin Foods Best Emerging Business, the category under which OHUG was nominated and entered, was open to all businesses in the Franklin/Papakura, South Auckland district, that have been operating less than two years, as at Entry Opening date.

According to OHUG Managing Director, Steve Rigby, he and his team were thrilled to win the Award and to be recognised by the district’s business leaders and peers, as representing excellence in business practice.

“OHUG has enjoyed phenomenal growth during the last few years. That’s pretty amazing considering the state of the economy. I guess looking back, we were brave to back ourselves with a start‐up business in a recession. But we felt our offer was strong and it would appeal to the market. In the end, our success has come about through offering world class products, customer service second to none and the fact that our key suppliers and above all our clients, have encouraged and supported us”, Rigby said.
