NOJA Power Wins an Australian Engineering Excellence Award in Queensland

16 September 2020 – Australian switchgear engineering company NOJA Power celebrate their win in the Queensland division of the Australian Engineering Excellence Awards conducted by Engineers Australia. NOJA Power’s entry of their Synchrophasor project with partners AusNet Services, Energy Queensland, the University of Queensland, Deakin University and AEMO supported by ARENA demonstrates a true collaboration in developing, deploying and commercially maturing technology to drive a sustainable energy future for Australia and the world.

The Synchrophasor project is the world’s first large-scale deployment of Synchrophasor technology in the distribution grid. This technology is enabled by big-data management techniques pioneered by IT in the last decade, providing electricity distribution network data visibility orders of magnitude greater than older technology. This high-resolution network data helps utilities to develop protection, control and automation for the modern distribution grid, making the grid safer and more reliable under high levels of renewable energy generation.
